Mona Lisa Restaurant, Los Cabos, Mexico
For spring break in March of 2014, George decided to surprise Lilly to a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico. After 5 days of paradise, George made dinner reservations at the Mona Lisa restaurant with a scenic view of the ocean and “el Arco” in the distance. However, while driving to the restaurant, George realized that he left the directions to restaurant at the hotel. With no service or Internet, we had to stop at different gas stations to ask locals about where the restaurant is located. After the tenth attempt with no luck, we decided to drive towards the beach hoping that we would find the restaurant. After walking around and asking locals, we finally found the restaurant.
The restaurant was beautiful and the atmosphere was very romantic. They sat us outside and it was perfect timing since you could see the sunset throughout dinner. After the third course meal was delivered, we were waiting for our dessert to be given to us. The waiter placed the dessert plate in front of Lilly first and she noticed something strange with the plate. It had her name written out in chocolate on the bottom of the plate! Still not realizing what was happening; she looked at the top of the plate and everything finally made sense. It read, “Will you marry me, Ligia?” Finally realizing what was happening, she looked over at George and George was already down on one knee. A photographer was present to take pictures of the main event. George then said, “quieres casarte conmigo y ser mi esposa?“ which translate to will you marry me and be my wife in Spanish. It was a beautiful touch. The ring was beautiful and Lilly said yes! The rest is history…
